1949
Zippo Canada started production of lighters in August, 1949. The lighter was stamped with the Zippo logo, gNIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIOh and "PAT.PEND".

The original case material was brass, but the insert was made from nickel silver and humped cam spring was used.
1950


The Canadian Patent was issued on 28th November 1950. As a result late in 1950, the "PAT.PEND" engraving on the bottom was changed to "PATENTED 1950" .

The material of the insert was changed from nickel silver to stainless steel.

During this period, the minor difference of the typeface is seen in the bottom and the insert.

1962

Late in 1958, Zippo Canada added the "FOR THE BEST RESULT USE ZIPPO FLINTS AND FLUID" inscription on the insert. At the same time, the humped cam spring was changed to straight cam spring.@

After 1958, the insert of the different engravingl is also seen.

In 1963, the engravings on the insert were placed vertically.

The hollow flint rivet was replaced with the solid rivet.

In mid-1976,. an instruction (FOR THE BEST RESULT .... ) on the insert was replaced with the company name. At the same time, some instructions were engraved on the revrse side of the insert.

In this period, a made in USA insert was often used in Canadian Zippo.

Late 1986, "Yearly Identification Code" and "Monthly Identification Code" were engraved on the insert.
1987
New Zippo logo was used for the bottom marking. At the same time, "Yearly Identification Code"and "Monthly Identification Code" were stamped on the bottom.

From the middle part of 1998, the width of the company name logo became narrow.

The 50th Anniversary Commemorative lighter was introduced.

Early in 2000, Zippo Canada adopted new bottom stamp design as millennium edition. In this year, a new insert with the rib was adopted.

The operation of Zippo Canada was finished in July, 2002.
"Final Production Run" lighter was released in commemoration of this event.
