So my best guess Seth is that Derek still has the metal in his ankle. I don't know if the idea was presented of having a procedure a few months after repair to remove the hardware. This, of course, also requires healing of bone to fill in the holes and additional rehab, but the end result is a better long term solution for athletes. PRP after the metal is removed also speeds bone healing and makes for a faster rehab.
