3. Below is what was reported in the news today. (doing my best to be on time...:P)

SEIKO: After duet song with Go Hiromi, it is Richard...

Not only with Hiromi... The duet featuring singer Seiko Matsuda (38)and Richard
Carpenter (54) of Carpenters was announced on 23rd Oct. A Christmas song,
penned by Richard, was recorded secretly in LA early this month, in preparation
of Seiko's best album to be released in Nov.

Already in the limelight with the duet song with ex-boyfriend Go Hiromi (45),
Seiko has yet another "big" duet materialized.

The person is none other than super pop duo Carpenters' Richard, who in the 70s
had numerous hit songs, eg "Yesterday Once More". According to insiders, the
two tracks are originals, all English, and the lyrics circle around the
Christmas mood.

"Christmas Turned Blue" ("Christmas at the Ocean" in Japanese "Umi no
Kurisumasu") and "December Morn" ("The Morning of December" in Japanese "juni
gatsu no asa") were both written and penned by Richard. Like how it was with
the late Karen Carpenter, his sister, Richard will play the piano and sing at
the chorus with Seiko taking centerstage. "Christmas Turned Blue" is similar in
style to Richard's representative style of light tempo pop melody of "haru no
kagayaki" (Sorry guys, I don't which song they were refering to in their
Japanese translation of the song.)

This dream project came about when Richard got to listen to Seiko's CD and
said "I definitely wish to do duet with her!". He approached Seiko management,
Seiko was of course flattered and agreed to this rare opportunity. Said
Richard, "The songs that I write are not easy to sing, to deliver. But Seiko
sang so beautifully, I am so delighted. To be able to write a song for her, and
to be the producer for the song is truly an honour."

These two tracks will be included in the best album "LOVE" due for release on
29th Nov. The other duet songs with Go Hiromi will also be included. Looks like
this duet-with-Seiko would leave a mark in the Japanese music industry of this
ending century.

OK... that was all that was said. If you want a pic of both of them (Richard
looks pretty good for a guy at age54!!) go to

I have all along been looking forward to Seiko doing duets, especially English
ones and I am so excited that the day has finally finally come. (^^)v ...
Correction good duets, whatever that means... :P I am hoping that this will
start a whole string of great composers and musicians and singers to Seiko, and
bring light to the vocalist aspects of Seiko that has been long overdue.

Then again, good works need good publicity too.... :(
cross my fingers...
Still have "Rain" as my standard bedtime music, but lately mixed with tracks
from "Seiko Remix 2000" album. (A Wonderful Remix album)
