Subject: Sony contract
Date: 2002/01/03 14:15:42
Hi everyone,
Here is the Sony update as promised. As reported in the sports newspapers :
(can't guarantee on the accuracy, as you know how it is with JP journalism)
Article "Facts":
Seiko's contract with Sony is a "spot" contract. Seiko will only release
under the Sony label for 1 single (May) and 1 album (June). An English album
will be released next year. Some of the recording was done in last Nov. Robbie
Neville and others are involved. The change of record label did not involved
any money. Seiko is adament in releasing another English album, so much so that
she is willing to settle for a "spot" contract with Sony. She has been working
on the English album for a couple of years. Sayaka will also be in Sony label.
There is a possibility of a Seiko-Sayaka collaboration. (Blah, blah, blah)
Between the lines:
There might be very little truths in the parts of Robbie N., Seiko-Sayaka release,
about breakign into the US markets, etc...The gist is....
If things go well (sales?...pls no HS, it makes it harder for me to buy 2CDs!!),
this "spot" contract might be changed to a normal contract. Otherwise Seiko
might have to look for Indies label if she desire; or absolutely
no more Seiko releases in the future. The english album was also mentioned in
the article. We do not know if the english album will be released by MME or SME.
If the contract states only 1 album, then what about the JP album???!?!??
I guess time will only tell. Let's wait, keep our fingers crossed and be thankful
of what we have so far..... :(
In any case, I would definitely enjoy a summer tour or a dinnershow tour that
does not involve any album or single promotion at all. That might even be a
bigger draw to Seiko Sound. This lady has tons of good materials. If anyone in
the GPM dares to announce a no-single or 90%-songs-never-sung-before-in-any-tour
tour, you bet the tickets will go sky-rocketing. I am saving all my money for
the Tour definitely, All JP tour for me too. Even a karaoke machine will
suffice......
The question is will there be sponsors for a show like this one?
