Subject: More on the USA Project
Date: 2002/01/03 15:53:27
Hi everyone,
If you want to know how a badly done Seiko USA release would be received here,
read Rolling Stone's review of Shakira's "Laundry Service" album. Shakira rose
to fame in the Latin-American market, singing all of her songs in Spanish. She
wanted greater fame so she dyed her hair blonde, lost most of her clothes, and
cranked out a really bad Britney Spears / Christina Aguilera / etc "clone" CD.
It's on the charts (but dropping fast) and is probably being purchased by her
existing base of fans, not people acknowledging her as a new talent...
http://www.rollingstone.com/recordings/review.asp?aid=2043236&cf=8365
I encourage you to read it and substitute the name "Shakira" with "Seiko."
An example:
"Shakira's voice is a wild and beautiful instrument, and she's capable of
delivering scorching moments of musical passion, as her live performances
have amply demonstrated."
And the final line of the review:
"Shakira's magic is lost in translation."
Seiko, PLEASE:
Dump Shinji.
Avoid Robbie like the plague.
Devote your efforts to a Japanese album worthy of your talents (or go on tour
without a new single or album this year...and tour WITHOUT Shinji).
Do not release "Love & Emotion Volume III."
Do not release "Was It The Future Part II."
Call Ryo.
Best regards,
Mike
