Hi Antony and all,

Thank you for the URL...I ran the page through Alta Vista's "Babel Fish"
translation site, which gives a good (but not great nor 100% accurate)
Japanese-to-English translation. It looks like:

1). This is a variation of what ZARD did in 1999. Izumi issued two "Best
Collection" CDs. One was her choice. The other consisted of the remaining
"Best Selection" as chosen by the fans. Apparently Sony is issuing a "Best of
Best" CD on New Years 2004 and is giving fans the opportunity to choose 3
songs, from which the final selection will be determined.

When ZARD issued these CDs I posted several messages here screaming "Seiko
should do this." Apparently, four years later, Sony agreed. Next step:
MAKE AN ENGLISH LANGUAGE ALBUM WITH JIMMY JAM & TERRY LEWIS!!!!!...:-)

2). They apparently will announce the song selection in September 2003 on
the "official" Seiko Web Site (www.seikoweb.com).

3). Songs are to be submitted by August 10th of 2003.

4). From the entries submitted:

5 people will win a SONY RN[ digital recorder NDR-XR1
50 people will win a Seiko original portable telephone strap
100 people will win a Seiko Matsuda "original clear file"
(Sorry...I have no idea what this item is based on the translation)...

Anyway...it looks like a wise "public relations" move on Sony's part,
especially in light of the immense and consistent negative response to the
ongoing presence of S.H. (or H.S. to some of you). Kinokuniya (where I buy
my J-CDs) has relocated to the former McWhorter's stationery store across the
parking lot...a bigger location but the JPOP selection seems smaller...:-( As
a result, I may go on a "Call Me" search in the next week or so but doubt
that I will do a special order.

I hope the translation was helpful. If anyone knows of a better translation
engine (or wishes to correct / append / update what I've posted here), I'm
sure that would be appreciated by all.

Best regards,

Mike
